關(guān)于展示設(shè)計(jì)概念的認(rèn)識(shí)有兩種觀點(diǎn)，即狹隘說(shuō)和廣義說(shuō)。狹隘說(shuō)主要有兩種：第一種狹隘說(shuō)將展示設(shè)計(jì)限定在視覺(jué)信息傳遞或空間造型的某一方面。即展示設(shè)計(jì)是關(guān)于視覺(jué)信息傳遞的規(guī)劃和實(shí)現(xiàn)，或者展示設(shè)計(jì)是空間形態(tài)的規(guī)劃和實(shí)現(xiàn)。無(wú)論是前者還是后者都有失偏頗。而第二種狹隘說(shuō)認(rèn)為展示設(shè)計(jì)僅僅是展覽設(shè)計(jì)。顯然，這種說(shuō)法是許多年前提出的，在今天看來(lái)其學(xué)科范圍過(guò)于窄小，已經(jīng)不能適應(yīng)當(dāng)今社會(huì)發(fā)展和學(xué)科本身的發(fā)展要求。因?yàn)?，?dāng)今的展示設(shè)計(jì)面臨的設(shè)計(jì)類型比展覽設(shè)計(jì)要廣泛得多，而設(shè)計(jì)內(nèi)容也明顯系統(tǒng)化了。它不單單是視覺(jué)信息傳遞或空間造型的某一方面的設(shè)計(jì)，也不單單是關(guān)于展覽的設(shè)計(jì)。
There are two viewpoints about the concept of display design, which are narrow and broad. There are mainly two opinions in narrow: the first one limits the display design to a certain aspect of visual information transmission or spatial modeling. That is, display design is about the planning and realization of visual information transmission, or display design is the planning and realization of spatial shaping. Both the former and the latter are biased. The second one is that display design is only exhibition design. Obviously, this statement was put forward many years ago, too narrow to meet the requirements of the development of the society and the discipline itself. Because, today's display design has more than exhibition design, and the design content is clearly systematic. It is not only the design of visual information transmission or a certain aspect of spatial modeling, nor is it only about the design of exhibition.
廣義說(shuō)包含兩層意義：首先，立足于展示的基本概念，將展示從展覽設(shè)計(jì)擴(kuò)展到博物館的展示設(shè)計(jì)、商店?duì)I銷環(huán)境的展示設(shè)計(jì)等領(lǐng)域。其次，展示設(shè)計(jì)不僅僅是展臺(tái)或展板版面的設(shè)計(jì)，還是展示的規(guī)劃、總體的安排以及展示的推廣等一系列的系統(tǒng)設(shè)計(jì)。
因此，廣義說(shuō)是狹隘說(shuō)的發(fā)展，也是近十多年來(lái)中國(guó)展示設(shè)計(jì)界大多數(shù)人所支持的說(shuō)法。但是，這一觀點(diǎn)的負(fù)面影響是無(wú)限擴(kuò)大展示的范疇，進(jìn)而擴(kuò)大展示設(shè)計(jì)的范疇。
Broad concept has two meanings: first according to its basic concept, we expand display from display design to museum design, store marketing environment design and so on. And the display design is not only the design for booth or panel layout, but also systematic design including planning、arrangement and promotion of display. Broad concept is extension of narrow, people mostly support this idea in recent 10 years. But this opinion expands the range of display design.
合理的定義：展示設(shè)計(jì)是一種在一定時(shí)間和空間范圍內(nèi)，運(yùn)用物品陳列、空間規(guī)劃、平面布置和燈光控制等方式，集中地向觀眾傳遞大量信息的設(shè)計(jì)形式。它是集多種功能、多種內(nèi)容、多種形態(tài)的一種復(fù)合性設(shè)計(jì)類別。
Reasonable definition: display design is a design form that transmits a large amount of information to the audience in a certain time and space by means of object display, space planning, plane layout and lighting control. It is a kind of complex design category with multiple functions, contents and forms.
展示設(shè)計(jì)服務(wù)于展示的功能，適合于展示活動(dòng)的應(yīng)用。所以，展示設(shè)計(jì)的基本目的是創(chuàng)造合理的、視覺(jué)化的信息系統(tǒng)。展示設(shè)計(jì)的任務(wù)可概括為：創(chuàng)造良好的陳列空間和展示環(huán)境;創(chuàng)造******的陳列方式和展示形象，創(chuàng)造和諧的人機(jī)關(guān)系和人際關(guān)系。
因此，展示設(shè)計(jì)在本質(zhì)上是以展品為主角，以展現(xiàn)展品個(gè)性、突出展品間的聯(lián)系、體現(xiàn)展示目標(biāo)、營(yíng)造展示環(huán)境為基礎(chǔ)的。
Display design serves the function of display and is suitable for the application of display activities. Therefore, the display design in essence is based on exhibits as the protagonist, to show the personality of exhibits, highlight the connection between exhibits, reflect the display goals, and create a display environment.
展示設(shè)計(jì)實(shí)際上是展示過(guò)程和觀眾視覺(jué)流程的設(shè)計(jì)。它是展示的空間并存性和時(shí)間歷時(shí)性相結(jié)合的形式，是開(kāi)放與參與相結(jié)合的動(dòng)態(tài)性設(shè)計(jì)。

1﹒展示的特征 Features of display
展示特征主要體現(xiàn)在四個(gè)方面：The display features are mainly reflected in four aspects
(1)綜合性 Intergrtity
展示包含了視覺(jué)和聽(tīng)覺(jué)，二維、三維和四維的物質(zhì)形態(tài)，展示綜合了各種技術(shù)手段，如工程、電子、激光等技術(shù)。

(2)實(shí)物性 Physical feature
展示是一種以實(shí)物展出為基礎(chǔ)，以視覺(jué)傳達(dá)為方式的信息交流形式。因此，展品的實(shí)物化是真實(shí)的體現(xiàn)，具有極大的說(shuō)服力和吸引力?！鞍俾劜蝗缫灰?jiàn)”的俗語(yǔ)十分確切地說(shuō)明了實(shí)物在展示中的作用。
Display is a kind of information exchange form based on physical exhibition and through visual communication. Therefore, The material object is the embodiment of reality, It is highly persuasive and attractive. There is an old saying goes like" it is better to see for oneself rather than to hear for many times", It shows exactly the role of the object in the display.
(3)開(kāi)放性 Opening feature
這種開(kāi)放性特征主要通過(guò)兩個(gè)方面顯現(xiàn)：一.透明度。展示活動(dòng)中的絕大多數(shù)展品都可以任人參觀、詢問(wèn)、索取資料。二.參與度。觀眾進(jìn)入展示的特定空間后，可以通過(guò)五官體驗(yàn)、親自動(dòng)手(如試用、試操作等)，獲得真切、實(shí)在、豐富的印象。

(4)展銷結(jié)合性 Display combines sale
展銷結(jié)合性指通過(guò)展覽等方式銷售商品。這一點(diǎn)在貿(mào)易性展示中尤為明顯，現(xiàn)在的一些博物性展示(在本書(shū)第四章有專論)也逐漸具備了這種特征。所以，在世界性博覽會(huì)上，不少參展國(guó)家和企業(yè)集團(tuán)，對(duì)其參展項(xiàng)目與方式的擇定無(wú)不潛藏著這種經(jīng)濟(jì)與貿(mào)易開(kāi)發(fā)的目的。
It means we can sale through display.It is particularly obvious in trading display, and nowadays some of museum displays can develop into that direction.
